When I shared how I plan our weeknight meals, I mentioned my weeknight meal list in my Notes app. Let it be said that if I lost my Notes app, I would lose my mind. So while that probably isn’t great, having my meal list in my notes app is a game changer. I’ve done this for years - probably going on five or six years now. And it is a great way to ensure that I can plan a variety of meals that we all love. But! I wanted to take a minute and dive deeper. While that list is chock full of our family favorites, sometimes it is still overwhelming for me. If it’s an extra busy week, just scrolling through the whole list can stress me out at times. Because these days, our family has a LOT of favorites. It almost makes me miss 1992 when my mom would cook the same seven (amazing) meals, then repeat. Over and over again! So, each season I tend to have four categories where I list out a few of our favorite meals. These categories also really depend on the season. For example, I always have a soup category in the fall and winter. I might even add it back in for spring, but we needed a (very tiny) break from soup. I usually keep this list in my planner or somewhere handwritten, even in my kitchen. I’ll also take a picture of it so I have it in my phone that way.
