Water Main Breaks Across Nashville

At least six water main breaks were reported across Nashville on Tuesday as crews sought to respond to damages due to frigid temperatures.

Crews worked on water main breaks in West Meade, Nashville, and Harding Pike at Brookmont Terrace, near The Nelson Apartment Homes, among other locations.

The city’s outage map showed over a dozen potential problems as of Tuesday afternoon, extending to Antioch, Hermitage, and Brentwood outside of the city.

Nashville's temperatures hit 7 degrees on Monday night, and some areas recorded subzero wind chills. The weather is expected to improve somewhat on Wednesday, with lows in Middle Tennessee in the 20s.

Lawmakers Prepare for Immigration Changes

State lawmakers are preparing for potential mass deportations as the General Assembly readies a special legislative session that will focus in part on illegal immigration.

Gov. Bill Lee has expressed willingness to support the Trump administration using any available resources, including the National Guard, though no action has yet been taken.

Last week, Lee called for a special legislative session to include several immigration-related measures, such as creating a centralized immigration enforcement entity, establishing an immigration enforcement fund, and penalizing government officials who implement sanctuary policies.

Stewarts Creek Band Plays at Inauguration

A high school band from Rutherford County performed at President Donald Trump's inaugural parade on Monday after concerns that the original outdoor performance had been canceled due to cold weather.

Stewarts Creek High School band director Michael Chester received an unexpected announcement on Friday as he and his 160-member band prepared to depart for Monday’s presidential inauguration.

Due to the event being moved indoors because of extreme cold, the Red Hawks were informed they had been cut from the parade after the band had raised $120,000 for the trip.

The band later received word that their performance was back on, allowing them to showcase their hard work on the national stage, with the full performance available in this video.
