Article Icon 1New Glenn Launch Scrubbed Again

Jeff Bezos' Blue Origin scrubbed New Glenn's maiden mission launch attempt Monday at 3:11 a.m. from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station following two failed attempts over the weekend.

Standing 30 stories tall, the partially reusable New Glenn rocket sat on the launchpad prepped for a liftoff initially scheduled for 1:00 a.m. after being loaded with methane and liquid oxygen propellants.

As the countdown progressed, the liftoff time was repeatedly pushed back, inching closer to the end of New Glenn's launch window at 4 a.m. A spokeswoman on a company live feed said mission teams were examining "a few anomalies."

"We're standing down on today's launch attempt to troubleshoot a vehicle subsystem issue that will take us beyond our launch window. We're reviewing opportunities for our next launch attempt," Blue Origin announced in a tweet.

On Thursday, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani will be on trial to determine whether his Florida condominium and three World Series rings must be turned over to two Georgia election workers who were awarded $148 million in damages in a defamation suit against him.

Giuliani's condo is in Palm Beach, which he said he established as his permanent residence a year ago.

Judge Lewis J. Liman, who will preside over the bench trial in Manhattan federal court, is the same judge who found Giuliani in contempt last Monday.

Article Icon 1State Agency Sues Company Linked to Florida Congresswoman

The Florida Division of Emergency Management is suing a company owned by the family of U.S. Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick, saying the company overcharged the state by nearly $5.8 million for work done during the pandemic.

The lawsuit, filed Dec. 30 in Tallahassee, claims that the state agency made a series of overpayments to Trinity Healthcare Services, based in Miramar, after hiring Trinity in 2021 to register people for COVID-19 vaccinations.

Cherfilus-McCormick also faces challenges stemming from a congressional ethics investigation that recently concluded that the South Florida Democrat may have violated U.S. House rules and federal law with her campaign activities and congressional office use.
