The Texas Longhorns came up short in the Cotton Bowl in Arlington Friday night, falling to Ohio State 28-14 in game that came down to the final two minutes of play.

With the Longhorns trailing 21-14 late in the fourth quarter, Ohio State DE Jack Sawyer forced a fumble from Texas QB Quinn Ewers on fourth-and-goal and returned it 83 yards for the game-sealing touchdown. (Watch Play)

Ewers connected with RB Jaydon Blue for two touchdown passes on the night in a showcase of two of the nation’s top defenses trading punches.

This week’s winter weather sent Cotton Bowl ticket prices plummeting leading up to the contest, and the announced attendance was about 15,000 less than capacity at AT&T Stadium.

Poteet Independent School District, near San Antonio, sent students home Friday morning after a bomb threat sent via email demanded $30,000 in ransom money.

Meanwhile, 44-year-old Gerard Hayes was arrested after allegedly issuing a bomb threat at an Austin H-E-B grocery store.

Police arrested Hayes after searching his unoccupied vehicle outside the store without finding any explosives and said the threat stemmed directly from an incident on Wednesday.

The bomb threat comes a day after a man at a Central Texas H-E-B was arrested for wielding a gun in the store during a dispute over a return.

Article Icon 1Texas Zip Codes Most Popular in U.S.

Texas was very well represented in Opendoor’s hottest zip codes of 2024, with Texas zips taking the top four spots and six of the top ten.

Houston suburbs Katy and Cypress claimed the top two spots, while San Antonio and New Braunfels slotted in at three and four, respectively.

Opendoor cited low housing costs and high job growth for Texas’ high rankings, and also included Plano and Tomball in its “hidden gems” listings.

You can check out the full list of 2024’s most popular zip codes here.
