BRAND NEW EPISODE! The Wellness Scoop with Ella and Rhiannon | | Hi everyone, We've got so much to chat about on this week's episode of The Wellness Scoop! First up, the ever-growing protein obsession. Did you know supermarket egg pots are now outselling McCoy's crisps at Tesco? But how much protein do we really need? Is 60g of protein in one meal enough or too much? It's hard to tell what's fact and what's just clever marketing, so we're breaking it all down to help make sense of it. We're also looking at whether BMI is still a useful measure of health. A new strategy for classifying obesity was proposed last week, and it feels like an overdue step towards a more nuanced understanding of weight and wellbeing. Then there's Scotland's decision to ban birthday cakes in nurseries. It's caused quite a stir — some people think it's draconian, while others see it as a welcome step towards a bigger conversation about food and children's health. This week, we're also thrilled to welcome Dr. Thivi to talk about skin health. Can your diet really give you glowing skin, or is it mostly down to genetics? We also chat about LED masks, collagen, and superfoods. Her advice is practical, science-based, and refreshingly realistic. And finally, we look at oat-zepmic, chia water and the documentary I watched about Bryan Johnson, the man spending $2 million a year trying to reverse his age. His routine is extreme — 54 pills with breakfast, plasma-sharing, and even electrodes to stimulate his nervous system. It's fascinating, but it raises big questions about the darker side of wellness and the commercialisation of extremes. There's a lot to unpack in this episode, and I hope you enjoy listening as much as we enjoyed recording it. You can find the episode here, and as always, I'd love to hear your thoughts or suggestions for what we should cover next. Best wishes, Ella x
