Last November we did a round trip of the "Golden Triangle" in the USA, starting in San Francisco, onto Las Vegas (again haha!) and finally LA, for the 2 last nights. It was a 10 day trip overall, and aside from the jet-lag absolutely killing us, we had such a good time exploring new places. Now obviously I can't travel without sharing the food highlights of the trip. So although our time in Hollywood/LA was short, there are some restaurants/meals I wanted to share with you!
1, 2 & 3. First up this is the Reuben Sandwich from the Infamous @melsdrivein , recognised across LA and San Fran. Slightly different to the Pastrami sandwich, BUT it's just as delicious, and it's of American origin as opposed to Romanian like the Pastrami Sandwich. I was looking for something less filling than a full meal when we visited, but who was I kidding? The portion was massive, of course. It came with potato salad, which was very rich and creamy.
Ben went with the Spaghetti & Meatballs which came with garlic bread. A really comforting dish but again MASSIVE. We probs didn't need the Caesar salad starter, but we love it!
4. Cocktails in our posh hotel in Hollywood @thehollywoodroosevelt🍸
5 & 6. Beetle House Bar, Hollywood. Now if you like Halloween 🎃 and live performances with themed cocktails and food, GO HERE!! We only popped by for a drink. @beetlehousela
7. An underestimated small, cute bar just off Hollywood strip serving nice cocktails @thewoodslounge🍸
8 - 10. Our first stop in LA was @cabocantina at first glance it's a fairly gimmicky, colourful place, could probably do with a bit of a dust and lick of paint haha. But the food here OMG. The pictures don't do it justice. Again we mistakenly thought oh we'll just share some nachos and tacos there won't be that much. There was food for days. And it was divine. We went with Muchos Nachos, which was topped with all sorts of veg and salad etc, and the Chicken Tacos. Washed down with a frozen Marg of course. 🌮
11. Last but not least, as mentioned in my San Fran food highlights post, we couldn't leave without grabbing a last minute Hot Dog with all the works at Santa Monica Pier 🌭
It was a short trip to LA that at times was overwhelming but I'm glad we visited. Have you been to any of these places?? Please leave a comment below if you have also enjoyed some of the above places/meals, and let me know any other LA recommendations you have!
