Severe weather continues on the eastern side of Texas through the weekend after tornadoes hit the state Thursday night and into Friday morning.

Severe weather continues on the eastern side of Texas through the weekend after tornadoes hit the state Thursday night and into Friday morning.

Gov. Greg Abbott activated emergency response units on Thursday as the weather threat was taking shape.

Hundreds of flights were canceled as the weather disrupted holiday travel.

The tornados caused property damage, but no injuries or widespread damage have been reported thus far.

Fort Worth has overtaken Austin as the fourth-largest city in Texas, based on new estimates from the Texas Demographic Center.

The estimates indicate that Fort Worth grew to 989,878 residents by January 1, 2024, passing Austin by less than 3,000.

Fort Worth grew by 7.7% from 2020 to 2024, compared to Austin's 2.6% growth over the same period.

Houston, San Antonio, and Dallas remained in the top three spots.

Two Texas bakeries landed on the New York Times list of the best bakeries in the nation for 2024.

Houston's Koffeteria and Austin's Comadre Panaderia found a spot on the definitive list of 22 bakeries.

True to its Texas roots, Koffeteria impressed with its breakfast tacos, while Comadre Panaderia is known for its conchas and cakes.
