Hillsborough Sheriff Nominated to Head DEA

President-elect Donald Trump has tapped Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister to serve as the Administrator of the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA).

Chronister has been with the Sheriff's Office since 1992 and has worked closely with Pam Bondi, Trump's choice for attorney general.

Trump announced the appointment on Truth Social on Saturday evening, saying Chronister has "received countless commendations and awards for keeping his community SAFE."

Trudeau Visits Trump at Mar-a-Lago

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau visited President-elect Donald Trump in Palm Beach on Friday, days after Trump threatened to place tariffs on Canadian imports over border-related concerns.

Trudeau, whose public itinerary did not list a scheduled visit to Florida, was seen leaving a hotel in West Palm Beach to go to Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort.

Last week, Trump said he would impose a 25% tariff on imports from Canada and Mexico until the countries clamped down on drugs, particularly fentanyl, and on migrants crossing their borders with the U.S.

Both leaders called the meeting productive.

Predicted to be hyperactive, the 2024 Atlantic hurricane season delivered four more storms than the seasonal average but far fewer than anticipated.

The 2024 hurricane season, which began June 1 and ended Nov. 30, produced 18 named storms, including 11 turbocharged hurricanes.

NOAA predicted up to 25 named storms, with 13 reaching hurricane strength. Colorado State University's Department of Atmospheric Science projected 23 named storms and 11 hurricanes.
