At the end of September, we had a fantastic 10 day holiday in Croatia, in the Dubrovnik area. When it got to October, things were beginning to go out of season (certain restaurants & bars shutting and no service at the pool area), however the weather was still pleasant and there was still lots to see and do. Croatia is a beautiful country and I would highly recommend anyone to visit. Here's the food we enjoyed in Lapad & Dubrovnik Old Town area, Croatia.
1 & 2. One of our favourite things was the amount of bakeries there are, all open until late. A few times we grabbed a pastry or pizza slice and took it to enjoy at a local bar – this is absolutely the life I want haha π©΅ But one of our fave foods of the holiday had to be Burek or BΓΆrek which is a pastry or pie found in Ottoman/Turkish cuisine. The pastry is made of a thin flaky dough such as filo with a variety of fillings, such as meat, cheese, spinach, or potatoes. My favourite was cheese but the chicken and leek one were particularly good too!
3. Fantastic Chicken Burger at Shelby's Bar, Lapad
4 & 5. Stuffed Pork Tenderloin at Restaurant Lapad. Stuffed with cheese and ham and wrapped in bacon. This restaurant has a large, open, outdoor grill and serves up some fantastic meat and fish dishes.
6. I loved our breakfast buffet at Grand Hotel Park – I often made myself smashed avocado on toast with egg and bacon π
7. Ice creams are also aplenty around Dubrovnik, but my fave had to be the Chocolate and Pistachio at SlastiΔarna Sirena down the strip to Sunset Beach, Lapad
8. We had a nice Italian meal at Mamma Mia in Lapad, a restaurant I had visited 5/6 years ago a number of times. Very busy, the food was fab.
9. The traditional dish of Bosnia (We did a day trip to Mostar) was Δevapi; small, seasoned ground meat rolls that are grilled and served in a bread pocket with an onion salad. Big fan π
10 & 11. Pull Over Restaurant in Lapad. Close to our hotel we ate there twice and we enjoyed the food both times. Recommend the Paccheri Pasta and Club Sandwich (we could have shared this massive portion) here.
12. Prekala Churros stall in Lapad on the way down to Sunset Beach. They smelt AMAZING and we passed by every day so hd to have some. They had pistschio sauce too π€€
13 & 14. Last but not least, more massive portions of stuffed grilled meat this time at Pizzeria Scala in Lapad. Lots of decent meals served here but Ben was very happy with this Stuffed Pljeskavica - minced beef filled with kajmak (clotted cream) and cheese.
