Most Sundays, I have a full table of family. The tradition is one that sprung up organically since Dan and I got married (10 years!), an "if you build it they will come" joy. As with much of what we do in the kitchen, the making and being with everyone gives a lot, and I feel like a Sitti who takes good care of her habibis. Today that Sitti-me has a little more time with the extra hour here in Michigan. I'm vowing to spend it with a good book.
My friends ask me for ideas for how to change up dinner. It's funny, even with all of the recipes that march through my head and kitchen on a regular basis, I can get into a rut. I default most often to Chicken Shawarma, because we love the flavor so much and it's easy to make. Dan, lover of all things beef, reminds me to make Beef Shawarma (I have been trying to get grass-fed beef to make the beef factor healthier). Great idea!
The menu below can be all-in-one if you make wraps with pita or markouk thin bread. Or you can make the beef and serve it with Lebanese rice and a salad.
I'm excited about the beautiful gifts and flavor we have been adding to the shop for the holiday season. You'll be the first to see everything as we go! One of my favorites is our new custom holiday ORNAMENT that is full of fun and flair . . . I love it (hi Habibi! Scroll down to see it). Notice our new Lebanese EVOO too. It's organic and special; I'll share more on that soon.
If you are looking for special gifts for your teams, big families, or any larger orders, shoot me an email and we'll get it all done for you. We do lots of this every year, so you can count on us.
Bless your hands,
Beef Shawarma.
Mouthwatering flavor. The cooking takes place stovetop and the recipe expands or contracts with ease.
Okay, this is main-dish-worthy, but I jazz up Lebanese rice the way my mother did with mushrooms, green onions, and pine nuts to keep things interesting! Stock up on your Lebanese pine nut pouches for the season ahead, too.
I love homemade pita for shawarma because it holds the fillings when split, like so. That sauce you see here that we want to eat badly is tahini, garlic, lemon with a little ice cold water.
