The Washington Commanders completed a 52-yard Hail Mary with no time on the clock to shock the Chicago Bears and move to 6-2 on the year.

The game featured a matchup of star rookie quarterbacks Jayden Daniels of Washington and Caleb Williams of the Bears. Still, neither team could generate much offense before the amazing final play of the 18-15 game.

Daniels was impressive overall for Washington, despite missing practice most of the week with an injured rib.

The Commanders led for most of the game but often settled for field goals. When the Bears punched in a touchdown with less than a minute left, Chicago had its first lead.

Washington hasn't started 6-2 since 2008.

Article Icon 1Voter Rolls in the Courts

A federal judge in Alexandria issued an injunction ordering Virginia to stop removing names from voter rolls and to reinstate some 1,600 voters the state had removed in recent weeks.

On Sunday, the Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit refused to lift the injunction, writing that Commonwealth officials "remain able to prevent noncitizens from voting by canceling registrations on an individualized basis or prosecuting any noncitizen who votes."

Gov. Glenn Youngkin had said he would appeal the injunction to the Supreme Court if necessary. Youngkin said the issue in the case is that "only eleven days before a Presidential election, a federal judge ordered Virginia to reinstate over 1,500 individuals–who self-identified themselves as noncitizens–back onto the voter rolls."

Over the summer, Youngkin issued an executive order requiring daily reviews of DMV information to identify and remove people who identified themselves as non-citizens.

That action led to two lawsuits filed this month, one by the federal Department of Justice, that claim that the Commonwealth's voter list clean-up policy violates a federal 90-day "quiet period" that blocks states from systematically removing voters in the months before an election.

Almost 6 million Virginians are registered to vote this year.

Former President Donald Trump announced he will appear in Salem on Saturday to hold one of his final rallies before the Nov. 5 election. It will be his first visit since June.

Trump dialed in during a Republican rally in Chesterfield to tell supporters: "We're fighting to win Virginia, and if we win Virginia, it's over. We win the whole ball of wax."

Gov. Youngkin and Lara Trump, the co-chair of the Republican National Committee, also spoke at the Saturday rally.

The most recent poll of the Virginia race was conducted by the Washington Post/Schar School. It showed Democrat Kamala Harris leading Trump 49 percent to 43 percent, while two percent said they would vote for somebody else.

With 11 days to go until the election, more than 1.4 million Virginians had voted early, slightly behind the pace at this same point four years ago. Early voting ends on Saturday.
