This has been one of my readers' most requested German recipes and I am so excited to finally share my family's recipe with you! Authentic German Kartoffelklösse, just the way my Mutti and Oma always made them!

These German potato dumplings are the traditional accompaniment to things like beef and pork roasts, Sauerbraten, Rouladen, Schweinshaxe, Gulasch and a whole host of other "saucy" dishes, whether meat-based or vegetarian. They're pillowy soft and tender, so perfect for mopping up all that luscious gravy!

This detailed, step-by-step tutorial includes ALL the tips and tricks you need to ensure your success! Before you know it you'll be sitting down to the most satisfying Kartoffelklösse ever!

Earlier this summer we took a family trip to South Carolina where we enjoyed some terrific classic Southern food. Shrimp and Grits was one of the dishes we sampled and I've recreated that recipe to share with you. And as much as we enjoyed it during the hot summer months, it's even better now that the chilly weather has set in. Hot and creamy cheese grits topped with deliciously seasoned shrimp, sausage and veggies...it's the perfect comfort food!

Come pull up a chair and enjoy some real Southern hospitality!

Every cook needs a good mushroom gravy as part of their repertoire of homemade sauces and gravies. And for the BEST mushroom gravy recipe there's no need to look any further! This has such incredible depth of flavor and is delicious with beef and pork roasts, steaks, meatloaf, roast chicken, potatoes, schnitzel, Yorkshire puddings, vegetables and - of course - those delicious German Potato Dumplings above!

Leave the store-bought packet on the shelf because its flavor can't even BEGIN to compare to this made-from-scratch homemade gravy!

Last Week....

A delicious minestrone soup made after traditional Italian fashion: Packed full of healthy seasonal vegetables, beans, pasta and featuring a deliciously rich broth infused with smoky pancetta or bacon!

Italian minestrone soup goes back to ancient times when food scarcity required ingenuity and making do with whatever you had on hand. And that also meant using whatever vegetables were in season. But that didn't mean it had to be boring or tasteless. Looking back to minestrone's pre-Roman origins, the people would utilize that season's vegetables along with the legumes and grains they had available and bump up the flavor of the soup by adding leftover scraps of smoked meats. Centuries later, Italians still honor that same tradition when making their minestrone, celebrating the season's bounty and simmering these ingredients together to create a wonderfully rich and flavorful soup that is hearty and nutritious.

Come join me for a bowl of this wonderful traditional Italian soup!

Oh, how I love this bread!

However good you may think the stuff from the store tastes, absolutely nothing can compare to homemade! Warm, soft, and chewy, this homemade lavash is simply irresistible!

There are so many ways you can enjoy this versatile bread. Use it to make sandwich wraps, gyros, döners or shawarmas; use it a crust for pizza, cut it into strips or triangles to serve with your favorite dips, use it make quesadillas, calzones, garlic bread, or just tear it like naan bread to dip in soups and stews or to mop up sauces.

I have to tell you, not only is Lavash superbly delicious, making it is downright FUN!
