Good morning Dear Friend! If you wake up and its still dark outside, how do you know if it is time to get up yet or not? OH! You have an alarm clock or some way to tell time in your bedroom. What a novel and fantastic idea! I'm going to have to try that! I plug my phone in the bathroom and when that happens, I have no idea what time it is when I am in bed. If I wake up and don't hear the birds chirping, I know it's still too early to get up. Yet, here I am. I've been up for over an hour. I'm drinking my coffee and writing to you. I've already organized most of what I need this morning and sent out three emails that I needed to send. When those friends receive emails written at 3:30 am, they are going to know that I've lost my mind. I guess they will also know about my insomnia. You call it insomnia, I call it, getting stuff done. But you didn't come here to talk about alarm clocks or wake up times, instead you came to talk about FOOD!!! ___________________ What's cooking this week at Loaves and Dishes? Honestly, I've been busy with some family business and the website has languished a little bit BUT Sarah has been keeping the YouTube channel busy and you won't want to miss her Salmon Patties, Cucumber Tomato Salad and her Bacon Dip. In fact, I'm a little jealous that she made bacon dip and didn't even tell me or invite me over to enjoy some! We've been making that since she was in high school and boy, it is GOOD! It's corn season and many of you want to know about all things corn! Here's how to cook corn on the cob on the stove. Then, here's how to cook frozen corn on the cob. and here, is how to freeze corn! Now you are set! ____________________ HOT COOKING TIP OF THE WEEK Bump up the flavor!!!
___________________ THREE LITTLE THINGS I'm trying to be more thankful for the small things in my life and am hopeful that will remind me to be thankful for the larger things too. I'm sharing those here so that maybe you'll be reminded of the small things too.
_____________________ A FINAL WORD Are you dealing with an aging parent or two? It reminds me of how you often see a reminder that "you never know what someone else is dealing with". You really really don't. Some things are very stressful and theres nothing you can do about it but to go through it. Working with aging parents is one of those things. Please say a little prayer for one another, reach out to help each other, invite a friend over for dinner or offer them a coffee and a listening ear. That might be all that they need. I can't say thank you enough to you for reading this newsletter. I hope you find something useful here and I hope that you'll share it with others. I'm always amazed at how responses to this come from all over the United States and sometimes from other countries. Thank you. You make my day. Every single day.
