Hey there reader!
If your goal is to:
✅ Feel healthier.
✅ Feel less bloated.
✅ Increase your energy.
✅ Be more focused.
Then adding smoothies into your daily routine is my number one recommendation.
I didn't discover smoothies until about two years into my weight loss journey. I still lost weight without drinking smoothies because I watched my portions and stayed within my daily calories, but I didn't feel my best. I often felt tired and always had brain fog. That all changed when I started to drink a daily detox smoothie.
Smoothies are a great way to add more fruits and vegetables to your diet, increase hydration, and get your pipes moving. All three of these things will help you lose weight.
However, there are many other benefits to smoothies. You'll have more energy better focus, your skin will look better, less bloated, and the list goes on.
As a side note, now that I'm in my mid-40s, smoothies have been essential with hormonal fluctuations. I feel 1000% better when I make it a priority to drink a daily smoothie.
As you can tell, I'm a massive fan of smoothies! Of course, not just any smoothie though it needs to be a healthy detoxifying smoothie.
My detox smoothie rules include:
👉 All ingredients need to be organic, which means free of additives, preservatives, or chemicals.
👉 Fruit - My favorites are blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, and blackberries. These have less sugar than other fruits and are high in fiber and other nutrients. I also like apples and bananas but use them sparingly because they are higher in sugar. However, I'm not too concerned with fruit sugar; I mostly pay attention to refined sugars.
👉 Superfoods - Hands down, my favorite superfood is chia seeds, and they offer a big nutritional punch of omega-3 fatty acids, fiber, and protein. You can use any of your favorite superfoods.
👉 Greens - Baby spinach and baby kale are the greens I use most.
👉 Plant-based milk - Dairy is acidic to the body, tough on the digestive system, and slows down the detoxification process. Coconut and almond milk are excellent non-dairy choices for a detox smoothie, and you can also use coconut water or plain filtered water.
These three detoxifying smoothies recipes are in constant rotation on my meal plan.

Meal prep tips
You might not think of detox smoothies as a "meal prep" recipe but, besides mason jar salads, they are one of my favorite recipes to prep ahead of time.
I like to create smoothie freezer kits. These kits assure that I have all the ingredients (besides the liquid) to make my daily green smoothie.
To make meal prep easy, I'll make 2-4 weeks of detox freezer kits at a time. This way, I only have to think about smoothie ingredients once a month. See this tutorial for more tips on smoothie kits.
Where to purchase smoothie ingredients?
I found the best price on organic frozen fruit and greens to be at wholesale stores - so if you live near a BJ's Wholesale, Sam's Club, or Costco, then check there first. I can get 3lb bags of frozen fruit for under $12 and huge containers of greens for under $4. Of course, you can also purchase frozen fruit and greens at your local grocery. If you use fresh fruit, you'll need to add ice to get that cold slushy consistency.
Chia seeds, and other superfoods, can also be purchased at Wholesale stores and in the natural food section of your local grocery store.
You can also get chia seeds, hemp hearts, flaxseeds, and other superfoods at affordable prices online at Thrive Market. If you're not a member yet then here's 40% off your first order.
I hope I have convinced you to start making smoothies a regular part of your diet. Trust me; you'll love the way you feel. If you decide to make one of my favorite smoothies, please share a picture and tag me on Instagram or post it in the Facebook Group!
Talk to you soon.
