As part of our inspections of GP practices we use a set of clinical searches. These searches help us understand the clinical safety and effectiveness of care delivered. Searches are based on national guidance, good practice and MHRA safety advice. You can find more information on how we use clinical searches on our website. CQC is working with Ardens as part of a 12-month pilot to create, review and deliver the searches. As part of this the searches will be available to practices to use. The searches will be available free of charge to any GP practice who use EMIS Web, SystmOne or Vision. We're aware that a growing number of providers are offering "Direct to consumer orthodontics". These services usually consists of the provision of Aligners. CQC considers this type of treatment as Regulated Activity. Providers who offer this must register with CQC to legally operate in England. Providing this type of treatment without a CQC registration may constitute a criminal offence. When we are aware of a provider that is delivering this type of treatment without the required registration, we will bring them within our scope by encouraging them to register with us. We also encourage providers to take account of the guidance given by the General Dental Council. When we inspect general practices, we look at how they provide care to different groups of people. One of these groups is 'people whose circumstances may make them vulnerable'. This may include asylum seekers, refugees and other vulnerable migrants. With the situation in Ukraine, we wanted to clear up some common myths and share agreed guidance to best practice. As part of our regulatory approach we conduct ongoing monitoring of services. This helps us prioritise our activity by understanding where there is risk and where we may need to inspect. For services identified as low risk we publish a statement on our website highlighting that we have not found any evidence that tells us we need to re-assess the rating or quality of care at that service at that time. Where our review indicates there may be higher risk, we will make additional checks. This will include gathering people's experiences of care and contacting the provider. For services that we consider to be very high risk, we will carry out an inspection. We will also inspect a small number of services where we previously decided not to inspect or take further action in order to seek assurance about this decision and to improve our monitoring process. In our latest video, Dave James, Head of Policy, talks about CQC's future regulatory model: where we are at now and the next steps.
