A tradition throughout the Middle East, these special little wonders are as fun to make as they are to eat.
~ Ma'moul-Making Traditions ~
This week I'm on a Ma'moul-sharing mission! Why? This is one of many special Lebanese traditions we want to keep alive, enjoy, and hand down. Ma'moul (Mah-MOOL) is a traditional Lebanese molded cookie filled with either nuts (walnut or pistachio) or dates. There are various shapes of the cookies using different molds, meant to indicate the different types of fillings. Ma'moul is so fun to mold and make, especially in a group of cousins (or friends you love so much you call them cousin!).
Scroll down for storage and freezing tips! And stay tuned this week for info about these little wonders and an all NEW recipe. With video...
Ma'moul dough can be made ahead and frozen, then thawed and put to use. The cookies can be formed and frozen raw: first freeze individually to set the shape, then combine in a bag or box. Or, shape, bake, then freeze.
Dust with Confectioners' Sugar while warm after baking, so some of the sugar adheres to the warm cookie. Then dust again just before serving if needed, as a re-fresh.
