The following GAIN reports were released on November 19, 2021.

_______

Brazil: Coffee Semi-annual

The Agricultural Trade Office (ATO)/Sao Paulo estimate for the Brazilian coffee production for Marketing Year (MY) 2021/22 (July-June) remains unchanged at 56.3 million 60-kg bags, a significant decrease of 19 percent compared to last year's record output of 69.9 million bags. No official forecast has been announced for the MY 2022/23 coffee production; however, the initial expectations of a record crop were undermined by the prevailing below-average rainfall volumes up to September 2021 and severe frosts that affected Arabica production growing areas in June/July. Coffee exports for MY 2021/22 are projected at 33.22 million bags, a sharp drop of nearly 12.5 million bags from all-time record exports of 45.67 million bags in MY 2020/21, due to expected lower product availability.

Spain: Exporter Guide

In 2020, Spain imported $1.67 billion of agricultural, fish and forest products from the United States. Outside the European Union Member States, the United States was the second largest origin of Spanish agricultural and related imports after Brazil. As one of the countries most affected by the COVID-19 pandemic's first wave in 2020, Spain's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) collapsed by a historic 10.8 percent. However, Spain's recovery is back on track and the International Monetary Fund's (IMF) latest forecast expects 5.7 percent annual growth in 2021, followed by an even higher 6.4 percent in 2022. This offers opportunities for certain consumer-oriented food items, as well as long-term prospects for other products. This report provides guidance to U.S. companies interested in exporting high-value consumer-ready food products to Spain and includes an overview of the country's economic situation, market structure, and export requirements.

Thailand: Rice Price - Weekly

Rice export prices of most grades of rice increased 1-2 percent.

Ukraine: Biotechnology and Other New Production Technologies Annual

The biotechnology regulatory system in Ukraine is still not fully developed, but the country has committed to shape its policy in line with European Union's regulations. Political debate over agricultural biotechnology is active in Ukraine. Currently, there are no genetically engineered (GE) events officially approved for agricultural and food production and therefore no GE products can be legally imported into Ukraine. The Government of Ukraine does not permit cultivation of GE crops, however there are reports of illegal GE production for certain crops.
