Hi ,
We've all been at a holiday get-together where dinner is running late, right?
- You're hungry.
- I'm hungry.
- Everyone's hungry.
This situation is no good - especially when you're visiting with family - but there's an easy way to avoid it:
Appetizers!
Appetizers are the fun, tasty bites of food that come to the rescue before hunger turns to hanger.
And luckily, they don't have to add to your Thanksgiving cooking load all that much.
You could
- set out a box of crackers with cheese,
- slice some fresh fruit,
- or make one of the easy appetizers below.
I love these recipes because they're both delicious and simple.
You can either make them ahead of time or throw them together at the last minute, so it's easy to set them out for guests while you put the finishing touches on dinner.
baked brie with pomegranates
8 minutes are all it takes to turn a wheel of brie into a rich, melty cheese spread. Top it with pistachios, pomegranate seeds, and drizzle of honey for a festive fall treat.

white bean dip
If you have fresh rosemary or thyme on hand for your stuffing, mashed potatoes, or gravy, blend it into this dip for a touch of autumn flavor. This is a great recipe to make ahead of time - prep it up to 3 days in advance.

Herb Compound butter
Served with baguette, any of these 4 herb butters would be a knockout appetizer for Thanksgiving. Prepare them up to 4 days in advance!

butternut squash hummus
This autumn twist on my classic hummus recipe is a blend of roasted butternut squash, chickpeas, tahini, and aromatic spices like cumin and coriander. Topped with feta and pomegranate seeds, it's a feast for the eyes as well as the tastebuds.
