Hi There,
Raising kids, I'm always on the lookout for simple (but nourishing) desserts and treats. Something that makes dinner a little extra, you know?
But, where possible, I like to cut out extra sugar. A little maple syrup or honey in a dish is fine, but it's not like you need it there all the time, right?
So, I wanted to share one of my favorite fall recipes with you:
Sautéed Apples. You start with a good dose of butter (coconut oil works in a pinch) and let it melt, then toss in fresh apples and a glug of apple cider.
The apples get sweeter as they soften in the pan, and it's delicious served with oatmeal in the morning or a spoonful of kefir in the evening.
Here's why you should give it a try:
- Apples are loaded with micronutrients. They're particularly rich in quercetin, a phytonutrient that calms inflammation.
- There's no need to add sugar. The natural sugars in the apples (and apple cider) make this treat plenty sweet on their own.
- Cinnamon gives the dish a boost of flavor. Cinnamon's a natural match for apples, and it also supports metabolic health.
