Unofficial national rite of train travel (hard sleeper coach) in China is that you have to eat instant noodles during your trip, especially if it's an overnight trip. So I packed a bowl of instant noodles for my 22-hour train ride and happily prepared it for lunch on the second day - along with a spam-like instant sausage, also a train traveller's favourite in China.
