Updated COVID-19 guidance for adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults Two pieces of COVID-19 guidance relating to the support of adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults have been updated. The first is for people who are providing unpaid care. This guidance assists people with caring responsibilities to help those in their care understand the changes needed to protect their own wellbeing and that of others. The second is an update to guidance for care staff and personal assistants who are supporting adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults and addresses the same areas mentioned above. The Department of Health and Social Care recently hosted a webinar to answer questions about how the regulations will work in practice. If you missed it, you can watch the full webinar by clicking the link below. Survey on temporary DBS measures now open During the COVID-19 pandemic, temporary pre-employment measures, known as DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) checks, have been in place for health and social care staff. These measures are now under review. Adult social care employers are invited to complete an online survey to share their experiences implementing them, including any benefits, and how these measures helped mitigate potential safeguarding risks. The survey is open until 17 September 2021. Like many others, he struggled to make sense of information pouring in from all directions. In this blog, he explains how he found clarity and peace of mind - for himself and his colleagues. (Cygnet Healthcare colleague, Beatrice Nyamande (pictured above), gives the thumbs up for COVID-19 vaccinations.) This communication has been sent by the Care Quality Commission on behalf of the Department of Health and Social Care. |
