Autumn apples are here... and so are apple desserts! When I think of fall, I see the return of cozy nights, colored trees, and bags of fresh, crisp, juicy apples... and the abundance of delicious apple desserts I get to make with them! Apples are one of my favorite fruits to bake with and coming up with fresh takes on apple recipes is something of a hobby of mine. Don't get me wrong, I love a beautifully baked apple pie or crisp but serve me up a plate of decadent apple blondies with a salted butterscotch glaze and I'm in heaven! A slice of a frosted apple layer cake with a cup of tea in the afternoon? Perfection. A stack of apple pancakes topped with a baked apple sauce and a drizzle of maple syrup on a lazy Sunday morning? Divine. But I also like taking traditional apple recipes and making them a great fit for those who might otherwise avoid them. Such as a dairy-free (and vegan) apple crumble. Or, this dairy-free apple butter... Dairy-Free Apple Butter This Dairy-Free Apple Butter is also vegan and gluten-free but with its beautiful golden, silky smooth texture and intense apple flavor, you'd never know it. The secret is reducing the apple butter as it cooks, giving it the opportunity to caramelize! I flavor my apple butter with a touch of vanilla for a little bit of added sweetness. If you like that classic spiced flavor, you can use a blend of cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg instead. Slather this aromatic apple butter on an English muffin (or any type of muffin!), croissants, warm scones, or even a humble piece of toast for a little added luxury in your fall mornings. This apple butter also pairs well with pork or turkey instead of the usual apple sauce! Apple butter also makes a delicious homemade gift (yep, time to plan your holiday gift-giving already!). Dress up a jar with a pretty label and a piece of ribbon and gift it on its own or with a batch of fresh scones. But make sure to get ready for this apple butter to become your signature treat: your loved ones will soon be asking for another jar! | | Share your creations with me! Not only are they easy to make but they are topped with an irresistible salted butterscotch glaze that takes them over the top. They are to die for and have become one of my all-time favorite apple desserts. It's very hard to stop at just one! | | I know that every apple recipe collection you see this fall will have an apple crumble recipe in it but this one is different! Not only is it a Dairy-Free Apple Crumble with no butter in it but it's also vegan! It's a wonderfully aromatic apple dish everyone can enjoy with its jammy apple filling and crunchy topping. If dairy isn't an issue, serve it with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. But to keep it dairy-free and vegan, try a scoop of coconut milk ice cream. Fall comfort food in a bowl! | | If you have a special fall anniversary, birthday, or occasion to celebrate and don't want to do an apple pie or crumble, look no further. This beautifully spiced Layered Apple Cake will make the day extra special: the cake's garnishes—lush Caramelized Apple Buttercream frosting and crunchy Maple Walnut Crumble topping—really take this apple dessert to the next level.
