Hi There,
There's a few things I always keep on hand. It makes pulling together a quick lunch or snack easier.
Good sourdough bread is one. Grass-fed cheese is another. Fruit and nuts, for sure. And this homemade sprouted hummus.
It's so easy to make, with a delicious, creamy texture. You can make a batch on the weekend and have it at the ready all week long. Or, it's delicious served at a potluck or dinner party, too.
Here's why you should give it a try:
- Sprouting improves mineral content by making those minerals easier for your body to use. Sprouted chickpeas are an especially rich source of iron and potassium.
- Chickpeas are loaded with fiber which helps to nourish the gut microbiome while also supporting metabolic and hormonal health, too.
- It's loaded with extra virgin olive oil which is rich in antioxidants as well as monounsaturated fat - a healthy fat you also find in avocados.
- It's delicious (and flexible). It's super delicious - creamy with a hint of sesame and lemon. You can also adjust the recipe to add other flavorings you might like: jalapeño, roasted red pepper, or even sun-dried tomato.

P.S. If you're new to sprouting, it's helpful to have the right equipment (such as a sprouting screen like this one).
