Good Morning to YOU!!! Good Morning to YOU!!! Good morning dear beautiful, Good morning to YOU!!! (Happy Birthday tune). I know, I know the last thing you want to hear first thing in the morning is me singing, so I guess it's best that you heard that in your own voice. lol. At least it is Friday though, right? Anyway, let's get on WITH THE FOOD! What are you serving this week? If you hang on about 2 hours, I'll have my Chili Relleno Sauce ready to show you and I had meant for my easy Chilli Relleno Casserole to make it onto the website this week, but somehow, my writing is a little behind. Perhaps next week we can catch up with those. (Just keep your eyes on the Loaves and Dishes homepage and you'll see when they pop up). That said, we did cook some chicken breast in a pan to share with folks how to cook juicy, moist and flavorful chicken breast every single time. I shared my Smoked Pork Chop recipe as well. I've got a new smoker ordered, and I'll share how to use that one once it arrives! Did you see the pressure cooker Boiled Peanuts? Man, I remember those as a kid, but I rarely see those old rickety roadside peanut stands anymore. Do you know where people buy boiled peanuts these days? No worries, you can make your own right in the pressure cooker. __________________________ HOT COOKING TIP OF THE WEEK This may or may not appeal to you.... LOL!!! I didn't even mean to do that, but now, I'm just gonna say "pun intended". LOL! But anyway, have you heard all the scuttlebutt about eating banana peels? It's a slippery slope once you start eating the peels. LOL! (Boy, I'm on it this morning). Anyway, eating banana peels is about all I've read about in food news lately. I mean, do we have this little to do? Are we THAT hungry? The long and short of it is that banana peels ARE edible. Now you know in case you were wondering. They are packed with fiber (no duh). Apparently, cooking banana peels into a curry is one way to use them and they leave little to no flavor of banana behind. The texture, according to most sources I've read is that of eggplant or mushroom. If you are game to give them a try, slice them in thin strips, soak them for a while first and then add them to something strongly flavored like a curry (or maybe a chili). They do turn brown and get squishy. It's one way to reduce food waste. Also, you can put banana peels into the compost bin, but anyway, now you know. _____________________________ SARAH AND I HAVE BEEN BUSY... Over on our YouTube Channel. She is handling all of the cooking basics videos. You know, things like "how to cut up a tomato", "How to Freeze Cake" and "How to Cook Chicken in the Air Fryer". I'm doing things that are recipes like, "Pressure Cooker Pulled Pork" "Pressure Cooker Boiled Peanuts", that kind of thing. I hope you join us and leave us a comment. We LOVE to hear from you! ____________________________ THREE LITTLE THINGS I'm trying so hard to be more thankful in my day to day life. I find that I easily slip into "sour old grape" mode and in order to get out of it, I try to remember what I am thankful and grateful for. It helps. Maybe it will help you?
_________________________ A FINAL WORD This week as I tried so hard to navigate the ever failing customer services of some of the businesses that I use, it reminds me that I need to say more how much I appreciate you. Lately, as a customer I have felt neglected, ignored and hurried through. I don't want you to feel that way. I'm doing my level best to bring you great quality content that answers the questions you have about cooking. If there is something you want to know, please send your question this way and I'll do my best to answer it. These are times when we need each other more than ever. I plan to show up for you because I think you are the BEST EVER! Thank you so much for reading this newsletter each week, visiting the Loaves and Dishes website, YouTube Channel and for listening to our podcast. Without you, none of this would be possible. I appreciate you more than you will ever know! Until next week in your inbox, God Willing and the Creeks Don't Rise. Wendi Unsubscribe | Update your profile | PO Box 82 , Danbury, NC 27016 |
