New Data from the Household Pulse Survey

The U.S. Census Bureau today released new data from phase 3.2 of the experimental Household Pulse Survey. This phase of data collection includes new questions on the Child Tax Credit, sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI), rent/mortgage arrears, utility arrears and restrictions, summer catch-up education activities for grades K-12, and preventative health care for children.

Economic Hardship Declined in Households With Children as Child Tax Credit Payments Arrived

A drop in the number of households with children that reported food insufficiency and trouble paying household expenses may be linked to the child tax credit checks issued last month, according to new Household Pulse Survey results.

The Internal Revenue Service last month began issuing a monthly Advance Child Tax Credit to families with children. About 35 million eligible families received the first monthly payment. Read more...

LGBT Community Harder Hit by Economic Impact of Pandemic

The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) adult population reported living in households with higher rates of food and economic insecurity than non-LGBT Americans, according to U.S. Census Bureau survey data released today.

For the first time on a population survey sponsored by the Census Bureau, the latest version of the Household Pulse Survey asks about sexual orientation and gender identity. Read more...
