The following GAIN reports were released on August 9, 2021. _______ Bulgarian rapeseed production is forecast to rebound in MY 2021/22. As of mid-July, the rapeseed harvest was 46 percent complete with reported yields exceeding earlier estimates and production projected to reach up to 360,000 MT. MY 2020/21 exports of rapeseed and sunflower seeds are currently lagging behind the previous season due to the shorter crop and growing domestic crush demand. Both rapeseed and sunflower exports are estimated lower to about 200,000 MT and 800,000 MT, respectively. Bulgaria's poultry sector had a challenging year in MY 2020, with its continuous growth interrupted for the first time in ten years. Sharply increased feed prices; the pandemic's impact on the hospitality industry and tourism; and the loss of some export markets, led to a decrease in poultry inventory and lower poultry and broiler meat output. Exports are forecast to remain restrained. The U.S-China Economic and Trade Agreement (Phase One) granted market access for new U.S. horticultural products such as avocadoes, blueberries, and nectarines. Market research indicates Chinese consumers are open to new varieties of fruit. Opportunities for U.S. fruit products include introducing new fruit varieties, engaging consumers through new e-commerce platforms, and expanding into a greater number of Chinese cities. However, the quality of Chinese domestic fruit has improved steadily and increasingly competes with imported fruit products, especially those with overlapping seasons, such as products from the United States. Germany is the third-largest importer of fresh cherries in the world after China/Hong Kong and Russia. The largest non-EU cherry suppliers are Turkey for sweet cherries and Serbia for sour cherries. Opportunities for fresh U.S. sweet cherries are best in August/September, after the German domestic growing season. On July 23, 2021, FAS New Delhi in collaboration with the Hyatt Regency Delhi, celebrated a "Taste of America" with a fabulous menu of inspired dishes. The night kicked off with a spectacular selection of U.S. bourbon and spirits cocktails, highlighting the versatility of American spirits. The meal servings promoted the use of exquisite U.S. products including cherries, turkey, blueberries, cranberries, Washington state apples, as well as California almonds, walnuts, and pistachios. The superbly curated dishes showcased the exciting and diverse flavors of America, and what can be achieved with high-quality U.S. foods and ingredients. The media marveled at the delightful tastings and the pairings of food and spirits. Through this combined digital marketing promotion, this "Taste of America" event reached more than one million prospective buyers and consumers on Instagram.
