UK imposes new sanctions on Belarus

The UK has imposed a package of trade, financial and aviation sanctions on Belarus, in response to the continued undermining of democracy and human rights violations by the Lukashenko regime. These measures coincide with the anniversary of the fraudulent election in Belarus, and are imposed in coordination with international partners.

On 9 August 2021 the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office updated the UK Sanctions List on GOV.UK. This list provides details of those designated under regulations made under the Sanctions Act.

The following entry has been added to the Belarus financial sanctions regime and is now subject to an asset freeze:

  • Mikhail Safarbekovich Gutseriev (Group ID: 14131)

Further, identifying information for 7 individuals has been amended and they remain subject to an asset freeze.

OFSI's consolidated list of asset freeze targets has been updated to reflect these changes.
