Covid-19 spot checks continue in Wales

HSE is continuing to carry out spot checks and inspections on every type of businesses across Wales after the country moved to alert level 0 from the 7 August. All businesses and premises can open, including nightclubs.

This is to support employers and ensure they are working safely to reduce the risk of coronavirus transmission.

Employers across Wales still need to adapt their working environments to manage the risk posed by coronavirus. If you receive a call, it is important to act upon it. Further information on the spot check programme is available.

The latest advice on keeping workplaces safe will help you assess the risks and continue to reduce COVID-19 transmission. It also provides advice on sensible precautions employers can take to manage risk and support their staff and customers.

The following workplace controls remain unchanged in Wales:

Businesses must continue to consult their workforce on health and safety matters. You must ensure you take reasonable measures to minimise the risk of exposure to coronavirus in workplaces and premises open to the public.

Talking to workers and their representatives helps to reduce risk. The legal duty for businesses to follow the advice to stop the spread of COVID-19 remains. If you receive a call or visit from HSE, you should participate in the spot check. Failure to follow current health and safety guidance could lead to enforcement action.
