What is Gas Safety Week? Coordinated by Gas Safe Register, Gas Safety Week (GSW) is the gas industry's annual event to showcase and promote gas safety awareness. It has been running since 2011 and has grown in stature ever since, with the number of individual supporters increasing in number from hundreds to thousands, and many key stakeholders in the industry investing their support each year. What's the message of the week? Scheduled for 13-19 September, one key theme of Gas Safety Week has always been to ensure that consumers are aware of the importance of getting their appliances checked by a Gas Safe registered engineer, ahead of colder weather and the 'big heating switch on.' However, this isn't the only takeaway from the week – we are looking to promote as many safety messages as possible, including the risks of unsafe gas work, safety in rented properties and the importance of ensuring you're employing a Gas Safe registered business to do gas work. How can we get involved? You can support Gas Safety Week by visiting the GSW website and pledging your support by filling in your details. Once you've done this, you'll receive a free toolkit full of digital materials to help you support the week. The toolkit includes: - Pre planned social media updates and images
- Articles for websites
- Web banners
- Logos and images of the Gas Safety Week Safety Squad
What activities do supporters get up to? Gas Safety Week supporters have gone above and beyond since the week began, getting involved in activities such as setting up marketing stalls, running promotional stands in shopping centres, social media competitions and giveaways, and even setting up their own safety awareness groups designed to run parallel with and support the week. If you're looking for inspiration as to what you can do this year, you can find reports on previous years which detail supporters' activities. Can we share details of our activities during and after the week? If you'd like to share details and photos of what you're up to during the week, feel free to follow and/or tag @GasSafetyWeek on Twitter, or you can use the hashtag #GSW21 and we'll do our best to share them. After the week, you can send details and photos of your GSW activities by email. We will consider them for potential inclusion in the Gas Safety Week Report, which goes out to all supporters and is available on the Gas Safety Week website. Feedback We issue e-Bulletins and would welcome your feedback and views as well as suggestions for future articles. You can contact us by email here. |
