This country pub based in Loxley is a Bradfield Brewery Tap and serves up various Farmers Ales as well as hearty, homemade pub grub including their popular pies!

Having enjoyed visiting Bradfield a few times before for some lovely walks, as well as visiting Bradfield Brewery itself previously, we decided to finally go to the Nags Head to try their pie and pint deal last Friday after recommendations. Get yourself a gorgeous homemade pie with either chips and mushy peas or potatoes and veg, and of course all the gravy, and wash it down with a Bradfield pint for just £8 (small) or £9.50 (large) on a Friday.

Who ate all the pies?

WE WENT LARGE

By 7pm on Friday there was only Steak and Ale or Mince and Potato pies left so we went with Steak and Ale and we were not disappointed. Although the pies weren't fully encased in pastry the pastry was decent - thick and crumbly and the steak and ale stew was gorgeous. I don't think I've ever had so many mushy peas on my plate but they are underrated and I love them! So many "chippy chips" too and all with lovely lashing of thick gravy. Nothing to fault here - it was beaut. It JUST beat me as I couldn't manage a few mouthfuls.

I washed this down with the Bradfield Farmers Pale Ale.

Staff were friendly and the pub was busy which was great to see. It would be great to see a few more varieties of pies here as we would most likely come back to try them!

Find out more about them on Facebook here or the Brewery website here.

Give them a visit if you're ever around, even better after a country walk!
