The Michelin Guide in the UK has announced a new approach to revealing its restaurant recommendations making it more modern and more agile. Away from the constraints of a physical publication, the Michelin guide will be releasing some of its newest additions to the guide ahead of the annual launch event.

This will be done on a monthly basis, on the last Wednesday of every month. The first restaurants to make it to the new guide were released on Wednesday 25 August. They feature both on the website and the app.

Restaurant entries are being highlighted with a 'New' symbol for easy identification and the restaurants will also be presented in more depth in monthly articles.

The Michelin Guide Great Britain and Ireland was published in digital format only for the first time in 2021 in order to be more agile in reflecting the ever-evolving restaurant scene.

Other countries such as Belgium will follow in a digital only format next year. It is not yet known whether other countries will follow this same approach.

"By revealing some of the new additions made by our inspectors throughout the year, we further strengthen the ties that build us to food lovers," said Gwendal Poullennec, international director of Michelin.

"Moreover, in a period that is still very complicated and in which the restaurant industry continues to face unprecedented challenges and uncertainties, we hope that these regular revelations and updates will provide opportunities to highlight the profession," he said.

All the Michelin guide distinctions such as stars, bib gourmands and green stars for 2022 will still be unveiled at the annual launch ceremony and they could also include some of the newly recommended restaurants.

The newly mentioned restaurants in the UK are Sumi in London, The Loch and The Tyne in Old Windsor, Eleven in Ponteland, Big Jo in London, Native at Browns in London, Los Moros in York, and the Shed by James Sommerin in Wales.
