Hello everyone!

May was always one of my favorite month when I was a kid mainly because of May 5th - which is Children's Day ์–ด๋ฆฐ์ด๋‚  (Eorinyi Nal) in Korea!!  It is an official holiday and it was one day where the children were celebrated and we could ask for gifts and yummy food!

I thought it was the best thing!!

So, naturally, I would spend days before, trying to come up with things to ask for Children's day so I don't let the day go by without getting everything I wanted..haha..

And then the week after that, kids make gifts and get flowers for their parents for Parent's Day ์–ด๋ฒ„์ด๋‚  (Eobeoyi Nal) - which is May 8th. But you know Mother's day in the US changes every year so it always gets me into trouble because Mother's day is always different in the US and I forget to call my mom and mother-in-law in Korea on the right day.. ๐Ÿ˜

The next holiday is Buddha's birthday ์„๊ฐ€ํƒ„์‹ ์ผ (Seokga Tanshinil ) and this year it falls on May 19th! I'm not a buddhist but I love templed food so I will share some posts about that below.

Finally, May is the beginning of Green Plum season so don't forget to get some to make Green Plum (Maesil Cheong) syrup. I just love using it in Korean cooking. I know a good farm in California that can ship green plums in the US so follow me on IG where I will be sharing the info and also a possible Maesil syrup giveaway too!

I love love using this Maesilcheong Syrup in cooking. I don't include in my recipes a lot because I can't expect everyone to have it in their kitchen. But if you can make this, it really adds a wonderful sweet, aromatic and slightly acidic flavor to your dish.

I add to salad dressings, meat marinades, jorims and make delicious cold drinks with it! I will be sharing about local maesil farm that sells online in my IG account (@kimchimari) so follow me there!
