| Hello friends, and welcome to my "What I've been loving" series! The truth is, I started The Almond Eater over 10 years ago, and since then, blogging has changed a lot. I miss writing, and I miss sharing my life with you all. I'm planning to share these emails once a month, so you'll get a glimpse into my life and a few items I've purchased and enjoyed. If you don't care about my life (no offense taken), just don't open the email. You'll still get plenty of tasty food recipes sent to you! LIFE THIS MONTH - To be honest, I was sick for 2 weeks in November, so the month itself wasn't super exciting. Being sick sucks, and being sick while having to parent is... less than ideal. But, we made it! We did it!
- On the bright side, Miguel and I did manage to sneak in a date night for my birthday. We went out into the city and ate at Fish nor Fowl (this is really only relevant if you're from Pittsburgh..) and it was incredible.
- Miguel went away for a work trip in the middle of the month, so we ended up decorating for Christmas earlier this year, and I kind of loved it. Truthfully, I just love watching TV with the tree lights on. It's magical, it's festive, and perhaps I'll keep decorating right after Halloween in the future. Very curious: when do YOU decorate for the holidays?
- I wasn't going to have Emmy meet Santa, but she saw him from afar and wanted to say hello. When we actually got up to meet him, she completely froze and was quite nervous. Thinking next year will be the year! But at least we tried.
- We spent Thanksgiving with Miguel's family in DC and it was a lot of fun. We saw friends, went to the park (even though it was freezing -- the things we do for our kids!), ate tasty food, and watched movies.
THINGS I LOVED THIS MONTH - Sweater #1 and sweater #2: I raved about these on Instagram, so I thought I'd share them here too. Both of these sweaters are so cozy, and I love the colors. I've basically been wearing them nonstop.
- Iced coffee glasses: Yes, I am THAT person who drinks iced coffee year round. These glasses are the perfect size for an iced latte -- I use them every morning!
- Toddler slippers: Kid socks can be kind of tricky because the grips on the bottom aren't great, and when your kid is running around the house, they tend to fall. The solution? Slippers! Not just any slippers, but very cute bear slippers that actually stay on their feet.
- Basil seeds: This feels like a random recommendation, but hear me out. These basil seeds are soft of like chia seeds, but with twice the fiber, potassium, calcium, and iron. They're flavorless, and lately I've been loving using them in chia pudding or adding them to my smoothies.
- Barefaced toning pads & vitamin C serum: I sort of hate recommending these because they're on the pricier side, but you guys, they're SO good. I've noticed a difference in the texture of my skin, and they're having a great cyber Monday sale that you should absolutely take advantage of.
And, because today happens to be Cyber Monday, let me share a few things I bought Emmy that I didn't include in my gift guide. PS if you missed my original gift guide, it went out on November 13, so scroll back in your inbox to check it out. - Bathtime book: A black and white water book that turns colors when it gets wet! She has a few regular bath books now, but this one looks extra cool.
- Bath bombs: Again, just over here trying to make bath time a little more fun. These would be a great stocking stuffer!
- Mickey magnets: We're in a major Mickey phase, and I think she'll have fun playing with these on the fridge.
- Kids tent: This is the one I ended up settling on based on all the positive reviews. I'm thinking of this kind of like a spacious fort, and one I'm hoping she likes hanging out in in the basement.
That's it! Thanks for the support and happy December! -Erin |
