Five District Attorneys Sue AG Ken Paxton

Five county district attorneys are suing Attorney General Ken Paxton over a new rule they claim violates state and federal law.

The rule, which mandates counties hand over nearly all documents requested by the attorney general's office, was implemented in April and applies to counties with populations over 400,000.

In two separate lawsuits, the district attorneys claim the law cited by the new rule, Chapter 56, does not give Paxton the jurisdiction the rule creates. Paxton, however, called the rule a "straightforward, common-sense measure," and called the lawsuit "meritless."

Both parties are awaiting further action by the court, and the second lawsuit is yet to be published. The first suit involving Bexar, Dallas, and Harris counties can be found here.

SpaceX Gets Greenlight

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approved SpaceX to launch 25 rockets per year, increasing the number from the previous amount of five per year.

The increase is the latest development for SpaceX, following the incorporation of Starbase—voted on by residents of the soon-to-be city, most of whom are SpaceX employees.

The FAA is currently reviewing the company's newest rocket, Starship Flight 9, and has given approval for some modifications--stopping short of a full approval.

Elon Musk stated his intent to be in Starbase next week to discuss the "game plan for Mars," as SpaceX is set to begin crewed missions to the planet by 2028.

Severe Weather Strikes

Parts of the state were hit with severe weather and golf ball-sized hail on Friday evening, with some residents reporting hail up to 2.5 inches in diameter.

Central Texas saw damaging winds and hail on Saturday, prompting weather alerts through this evening. Meteorologists warn of possible hail up to 2 inches in diameter and strong, damaging winds today.
