This report provides an overview of Burma's fruit market and highlights opportunities for U.S. fruit exporters to Burma. China and Thailand are Burma's primary trading partners. Imports of U.S. fruits typically arrive overland from Thailand. Despite political, economic and environmental challenges, there is a growing market for imported fruits in Burma. The most promising prospects for U.S. fruit suppliers to Burma include apples, cherries, mandarins, peaches, grapes, oranges, lemons, strawberries, and blueberries. On March 27, 2025, The People's Republic of China National Health Commission and the State Administration for Market Regulation jointly released the Amendment Sheet for the National Food Safety Standard for Raw Milk. The amendment entered into force on its publication. China notified the draft revision to the WTO on October 25, 2023. This report provides unofficial translation of the amendment sheet. Stakeholders should conduct their own review of the regulations to assess any market or regulatory effect on their business. The General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China updated the list of products and codes subject to Decree 248. Between November 20, 2024 and May 9, 2025, Chinese officials added 94 products and removed 78 products. The East China region, comprising Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Anhui provinces, is a key driver of economic growth in the country accounting for 25 percent of China's economy in 2024. High levels of urbanization and infrastructure make the region a focal point for imported agricultural products. In 2024, East China accounted for 29 percent of all U.S. agricultural imports including over half of all consumer-oriented products. The region accounted for the majority of U.S. beef, pork, tree nuts, processed fruit and vegetables, wine, beer, spirits, non-alcoholic beverages, pet food, and other processed products imported into the country. As a result, East China hosts several trade shows for imported food and beverage products. This report provides information for U.S. exporters on the facility registration process for commodities covered by the Department of Animal and Plant Quarantine of the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China. U.S. exporters and U.S. facilities planning to export commodities to China subject to the purview of the Department of Animal and Plant Quarantine can send questions to FASChinaDAPQRegistrations@usda.gov. On February 2, 2025, the Government of Israel published the "Public Health Protection (Food) (Food that is an Alcoholic Food), 2025 Regulation." Under this regulation, the Ministry of Economy's authority over alcoholic beverages was transferred to the Ministry of Health. This new regulation detailed herein focuses on public health and safety, and establishes guidelines for the production, import, and sale of alcoholic beverages. Although the regulation addresses both local manufacturing and imports, this report focuses exclusively on the sections of the regulation that pertain to imports. FAS/Nairobi forecasts a 13.3 percent increase in Kenya's coffee production in the marketing year (MY) 2025/26 to 850,000 bags due to improved farm practices, as farmers respond to high prices in MY 2024/25. Area planted is also expected to increase marginally, as the government rolls out its coffee expansion program targeting both traditional and new growing regions. The transition of land from coffee plantations to housing near Kenya's largest cities has slowed, stabilizing area planted. Coffee exports are expected to grow by 10 percent to 840,000 bags, while domestic consumption is projected to increase by 6.9 percent. This report lists all official controls on food and agricultural products by commodity description and HS Code. It also provides an exhaustive list of import or transit documents that must accompany foods, feeds, byproducts of animal origin, seeds and planting materials, insects, bacteria, mushrooms, live animals and germplasm, wood and wood products, packaging materials, and agricultural raw materials for industrial use. Ukraine's regulation establishing these requirements was adopted in April 2018 but was amended significantly in November 2024. This report replaces the FAIRS Subject UP1833 report.
