I had a conversation a couple of weeks ago with my Nourished + Strong group and one lady asked, "What if the scale bullies you?"
My answer is: The scale can't bully you.
The scale is an inanimate object - it's not capable of judging you.
If you feel bullied, or less than, or inadequate, this is you judging yourself.
Every day there are hundreds of conversations going on inside our head without you realizing it. Many of them are a default script:
- You'll have to work off that brownie.
- You don't need to eat that much.
- I've earned dessert after this hike!
Even, "You shouldn't weigh that much. What's wrong with you?"
Changing our thought patterns is not easy. It requires time and active participation on your part.
Being fearful of the scale is not something you can ignore and expect to go away on its own.
If you struggle with value on the scale then I highly recommend working with a coach.
I don't say that because I am a coach. I say that because you will have to call yourself out as a liar and speak the truth to yourself. That is hard!
It's also difficult to know the difference between the truth and a lie when you've had this conversation in your head for years or decades.
Having a non-biased third party in your corner can make all the difference in shifting your mindset.
