Georgia officials released a list identifying the hundreds of low-performing elementary, middle, and high schools where students can apply for a $6,500 voucher to switch to private schools if they want.

Students from low-income households will receive priority consideration for the money available for private school tuition, tutoring services, and other qualified education expenses. The application portal is set to open in early 2025.

The state legislature approved the Georgia Promise school voucher program earlier this year.

A judge ruled that Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis violated the Georgia Open Records Act for failing to release records relating to Special Counsel Jack Smith and a U.S. House Select Committee investigating Jan. 6.

Separately, arguments took place in an Atlanta court on Tuesday in the legal dispute over whether Willis must testify before a state Senate committee about her handling of the 2020 election interference case against President-elect Donald Trump.

Attorneys for Willis and lawmakers clashed over the extent of the Georgia General Assembly’s subpoena powers.

Last month, following Trump’s reelection, a Georgia appeals court canceled oral arguments on the question of whether Willis should be disqualified from prosecuting the election interference case. The future of that case remains unclear.

Warmer weather is on its way following a cold snap that gave Georgians their first taste of winter, with snow flurries in the Blue Ridge region and freezing overnight temperatures across the state.

Two school districts delayed their starting times due to slick roads as an arctic front moved through with the coldest air since last January.

Higher daytime temperatures will start today and sub-freezing overnight cold is expected to end later this week.
