The State Senate voted 30 to 19 Monday to override Gov. Roy Cooper's veto of Senate Bill 382, which strips powers from the governor, the attorney general, and other offices won by Democrats last month.

The legislation allocates $227 million for disaster relief in western North Carolina and transfers direct control over the North Carolina Board of Elections to the state auditor, a position won by Republican Dave Bolick on Election Day.

It also replaces two Democratic judges in Wake and Forsyth counties with two new Superior Court judges the Republican-controlled General Assembly will appoint.

Protesters delayed but didn't prevent the party-line veto override, which passed without debate, despite Democrat lawmakers denouncing the bill.

The override must still pass the House for the changes to become law. The House is expected to take up the legislation next week.

FEMA will open three mobile disaster recovery centers in Buncombe County to provide one-on-one assistance to North Carolinians impacted by Hurricane Helene.

The centers will be located at the Bernardsville Fire Department Station 15 from Dec. 2-5, the Fairview Public Library on Taylor Road from Dec. 6-10, and the Weaverville Town Hall on Main Street from Dec. 11-13.

The deadline to apply for disaster unemployment assistance for counties in the hardest hit areas expired Dec. 2, but residents of Mecklenburg, Swain, Cabarrus, Cherokee, Forsyth, Graham, Iredell, Lee, Nash, Rowan, Stanly, Surry, Union, and Yadkin counties have until Dec. 9.

FEMA has already paid out $1.4 billion in flood losses to more than 56,000 policyholders who filed claims following Helene’s landfall.

NCSU’s and UNC’s athletic directors have released a joint statement in response to the brawl that followed the schools’ rivalry football game Saturday, which NCSU won 35-30.

It started after at least one NCSU player tried to plant a Wolfpack flag on the field at Kenan Memorial Stadium.

The directors said they were disappointed by the players’ conduct and that while the rivalry is intense, “we must always display good sportsmanship and represent our universities and the Atlantic Coast with respect.”

In another postgame celebration, NCSU cheerleaders posed on the “L” in “Tar Heels” in the end zone. View a photo here.

Make Coal Great Again

Coal has been burned for over a century, but its full potential hasn’t been realized... until now. Frontieras’ breakthrough tech turns coal into hydrogen, diesel, jet fuel, and other valuable byproducts––creating a $2.1T market opportunity.

The best part? You still have the chance to become an early investor. That’s a big deal because if this company captures just 2% of the global coal market, they have a clear roadmap to achieve a $1T valuation.

Their tech is simple: rather than burning coal and wasting trillions of dollars in resources locked within it, their process extracts those resources from hydrogen to jet fuel.

Their technology has already been validated by a successful operation in Texas, and they’re getting ready to open a new plant in West Virginia.

Don't miss your chance to invest. Become a Frontieras shareholder and capitalize on the major breakthrough that will trigger the next "Rockefeller Moment" in global energy.

Coal's "Rockefeller Moment" is almost here.

Before John D. Rockefeller, oil was primarily used as fuel for lamps. But Rockefeller made his fortune by refining oil into more valuable products, like gasoline.

This same opportunity is unfolding for coal as we speak.

After centuries of burning coal, most people still haven't caught onto its true potential. Frontieras North America did... and their breakthrough patented technology unlocks at least 8 new and profitable ways to use coal, and a $2.1T opportunity.
