Hi reader,
People have strong feelings about leftovers. They tend to either love them, or hate them.
Regardless of where on the spectrum you fall, Christmas is coming… which means a big meal and dealing with leftovers.
(Surprise! People who hate leftovers usually don't have a change of heart just because it's a holiday, LOL.)
Here are my top 5 ways to deal with leftovers. Every single one of them is EASY and SIMPLE, and none of them require reinventing the wheel.
- Reheat full meals and serve the same thing again. (This works for families that don't really worry about eating the same foods over again.)
- Pull out some of the leftover meal and have it again as-is. (Think leftover side dishes, like baked potatoes or steamed peas. They simply become additional side dishes on another night.)
- Freeze the meal as-is and serve again later. (This works well with soups, chilis, and casseroles.)
- Have a "leftover night" where you gather all the leftover foods in the fridge, reheat, and let the family pick and choose their favorites. (This is a good option if you have a lot of stray items leftover.)
- Repurpose leftover foods as-is, but use them in something else.. (Think of roasting a whole chicken and using leftovers in chicken salad.)
Having leftovers is actually a huge boon when you focus on clean eating. You can reduce your time in the kitchen by planning on using leftovers!
How do you handle leftovers and extra holiday food?
♥ Tiffany
