Hi reader,
I know FIRST HAND how hard it is to get your family on board with clean eating.
While my husband was the one to speak up and suggest that we stop eating food from boxes, he was also the one who didn't want to eat it!
He came into our marriage with a huge list of foods he refused to eat… tomatoes, mushrooms, mashed potatoes (or anything mashed), all beans, most soups, gravy, all ground meat, all shredded meat, and fish… just to name a few off the top of my head.
But here we are – well over a decade later – and he now REQUESTS nearly everything he said he would never eat. (He still doesn't eat ground meat, but he says it's a texture thing and I haven't given up hope!)
A couple of years ago he sent me a text that said - and I quote:
"Babe, those black bean burgers with sauteed mushrooms were SO GOOD! You can make those again, anytime!"
I laugh, because given all the foods he vetoed in the past, those words are something I'd never thought I'd hear him say!
How exactly did I get him on board?
We made baby steps. | | | | - I asked him which bean he'd be most willing to try first.
- We talked about what kind of recipes (that included this bean) sounded good to him.
- I found several recipes I thought he'd like, and he picked out one to start with.
- I only made a half-batch for dinner and had leftovers in the fridge as back-up.
These baby steps were for ONE food item, and they took about a month from that initial conversation to actually eating the meal. It certainly didn't happen overnight!
Taking baby steps towards eating real food on a budget is the easiest and most sustainable way to make the switch. You avoid overwhelm, you avoid burnout, and you're more likely to stick with it.
We *just* opened the doors to our free Real Food Reboot 10-day challenge. We do this challenge every January, and it's one of my favorites!
I'll show you how easy it is to ditch processed food and take baby steps towards clean eating AND how to do it while saving money at the same time.
You can reserve your spot for the challenge on this page!
