Georgia Senate Republicans have decided to maintain their current leadership team, re-nominating Sen. John Kennedy of Macon as president pro tem.

This leadership choice, pending approval by the full Senate in January, follows an election where all incumbent Republican senators seeking re-election retained their seats, keeping the GOP’s 33-23 majority.

Kennedy emphasized that Senate Republicans have a cooperative relationship with Lt. Gov. Burt Jones, who holds key powers over committee assignments and legislation management, strengthening the lieutenant governor’s role in shaping state policy.

He noted that this structure reflects mutual trust rather than a ceding of authority, with Republicans working closely with Jones, who is seen as a potential gubernatorial candidate in 2026.

Gov. Brian Kemp declared a state of emergency in 23 counties on Friday after flooding rains caused rivers to overflow, submerged roads, and led to several rescues of residents surrounded by water.

Rural Evans County was hit particularly hard, receiving over 10 inches of rain and prompting boat rescues near the Canoochee River, which was forecast to reach a record crest of 18.7 feet.

Valdosta also faced significant flooding, with over a foot of rain, leading to impassable roads and school closures, while Savannah saw nearly 9 inches, resulting in stalled vehicles and flooded streets.

In Statesboro, westbound lanes of Interstate 16 were closed due to water covering the roadway, highlighting the widespread impact of the rainstorms across the region.

A car drove into Fresca Trattoria in Stone Mountain on Saturday, forcing diners to scramble for safety. Watch a video here.

Surveillance footage showed a white sedan crashing into the restaurant, almost making it all the way through before stopping, as diners and staff reacted in shock.

Lisa Myers, the restaurant's owner, and her daughter Leah, who was serving nearby, described the frightening moments when the car barreled toward a table that narrowly escaped damage. The driver reported to police that her gas pedal and brakes had malfunctioned.

Fortunately, no one was injured, and the restaurant remains open, with the kitchen unharmed.

Did your mom ever tell you fruit is healthy? Mine too.

But I guarantee that if your mother knew the damage a popular fruit does to your body, joints, and heart… she'd tell you NEVER to eat this fruit again. You see, even though this fruit is marketed as being "healthy," it actually contains a toxic nutrient your body sees as an "enemy."

So, every time you bite into this fruit…

Your immune system flags this "invader"… and unleashes its army of toxin killers. And since this nutrient enters your bloodstream once it's digested…

Your immune system starts attacking even HEALTHY tissue and organs… causing burning in your joints, muscles, and even your heart.

And even if you HATE fruit and veggies… I can 99.9% guarantee you've eaten this fruit in the past week — probably without even knowing it.

Luckily, Dr. Brian Paris recorded a video revealing the deadly truth about this fruit (and four other common foods).
