When my family and I started the switch from real food to processed food, I had no idea where to start. The internet gave crazy advice like…- Make yogurt (you can make yogurt?!)
- Make kombucha (what's that?)
- Mill your own grains (what's a mill?)
I was so, so very lost. And honestly, the idea of trying to figure it all out made me want to quit before I even started!
Spoiler Alert - I didn't quit. But I didn't take that advice either!!
Instead, I made the teeniest, tiniest changes that made sense to ME and where I was at the time. - When I ran out of salad dressing, I made my own instead of buying it. (It was only oil + vinegar+ salt + pepper, but I did it and it saved me a few dollars!)
- I gave myself a few weeks to find a good replacement recipe for Quaker Chewy Chocolate Chip Granola Bars. (This was my husband's favorite snack and he ate THREE of every day. My homemade version cost 50% less to make!)
- I experimented with a few different "use up the leftovers" type of recipes so I could stop throwing away odds and ends. (Did you know that reducing food waste alone can save up to 40% off your grocery budget?!)
