Dallas-based AT&T is selling its 70% stake in DirecTV to private equity firm TPG for $7.6 billion, exiting the subscription TV market to focus on its wireless 5G and fiber optics businesses.

The move follows its 2021 sale of a 30% stake in DirecTV to TPG for $16.2 billion. AT&T acquired DirecTV for $48.5 billion in 2015.

AT&T has struggled to grow its base of TV customers in the face of stiff competition from over-the-top services like Netflix and Hulu that provide programming over an internet connection.

In a separate deal, DirecTV said it will acquire competitor Dish Network and its Sling TV service for $1 plus $9.8 billion in debt.

The Texas Department of Public Safety issued a cease-and-desist order to surveillance company Flock Safety for installing their products at residences and businesses while operating without a private investigator's license.

The company’s automatic license plate readers are used by law enforcement to solve crimes but have raised privacy concerns.

"They’ve implemented a massive program of spy cameras to track the movements of every law-abiding citizen that passes by a camera," said Baytown resident Bryon Schirmbeck, who filed a complaint with DPS in May.

Flock Safety says its technology is used by over 300 law enforcement agencies across the state and is working with DPS to obtain the required certification.

The U.S. Coast Guard seized 900 pounds of illegally caught red snapper and shark after intercepting five boats in the Gulf of Mexico on Sunday.

Twenty-three Mexican fishermen were taken into custody and transferred to Customs and Border Protection officials.

Prized for its flavor and texture, the red snapper is a bottom-dwelling fish that averages between 2-4 pounds but can reach up to 50 pounds.

Prior to last year, when Mexico joined an international treaty to combat illegal fishing, roughly 40% of the country’s red snapper catch was harvested illegally.

Robert Kiyosaki just issued a new warning for 2024 – and it’s sending shockwaves across America. In a stunning announcement to his readers, the New York Times bestselling author of "Rich Dad Poor Dad" just declared:

“This may be the start of the biggest crash in history. The S&P will toast millions of 401ks and IRAs.”

The White House has overseen a 40-year-high inflation… exploding credit card debt… suffocating interest rate hikes… job-killing red tape… reckless government spending… a ballooning national debt… and runaway money printing.

And these failed policies have created an “everywhere bubble” that could cost you everything you’ve saved up.

Fortunately, this little-known IRS loophole helps you move your IRA, 401(k), TSP funds, and cash out of volatile stocks and risky bank accounts, and straight into physical gold and silver. Request Your FREE WEALTH PROTECTION GUIDE TODAY!
