It's not just about what you eat. Decades of studies indicate that serious health issues (including but not limited to asthma, cancer, and infertility) are on the rise and are due in some part to our ongoing exposure to toxic chemicals—whether it's in the shower, on our commute, while we eat lunch at a local restaurant, or when we clean our kitchens at home. There are more than 80,000 chemicals on the market today. Many don't have any safety data. This is particularly true of those used in the skin care and beauty industry. What's worse is that the Food and Drug Administration (the agency that regulates cosmetics in the United States) does not have the authority to remove harmful ingredients from the products we put on our bodies and on our kids' bodies every single day, day after day. When I became a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner in 2019, I learned how important it is to focus on the whole body, not just what we are eating, but what we clean with, what we cook with and what we put onto our skin. I've been using Beautycounter products for the last few years for myself and my family, so I decided it was time to become a brand advocate and consultant! | | | Unparalleled Safety Screening Safety begins with The Never List™, which consists of 2,800+ questionable ingredients that are prohibited from formulations. Next, Beautycounter assesses each and every ingredient against 23 safety endpoints including carcinogenicity and developmental toxicity. Only those ingredients that pass a rigorous review make it into the formulas. While international governments generally have more stringent regulations on chemicals in personal-care products than the U.S. and Canada, Beautycounter seeks to always go above and beyond even those standards. | | | |
