I'm Richa, the face behind My Food Story. Welcome to this series where I send you an email exclusive tip/recipe every Wednesday! Here's today's Tip/Kitchen Hack:
I'm currently doing my #AirFryerJanuary Series on the blog and the response has been phenomenal! I'm getting so many recipe requests and general FAQs. Today I'm going to address how to deep clean your air fryer.
First things first, after using your fryer, let it cool down and unplug it. Pull out the air fryer basket, and separate the basket from the bottom part. Rinse it in your sink with warm water and dish soap. If there's a lot of gunk or grease, you can soak it in a tub with warm water and dish soak overnight and wash it the next day. Wipe it down with a dry cloth. Use a kitchen counter cleaner (if you don't have an appliance cleaner spray) and spray it on the exterior of the air fryer. Wipe it down with a soft cloth or a microfibre cloth. If you're still unable to remove hard grease or gunk, make a thick paste with baking soda and vinegar and scrub it over the soiled parts. Allow it to sit for a bit and rinse. When the fryer's removable parts are dry, reassemble them and place them back in the fryer. Pro tip: If you want to deodorise your air fryer, combine two spoons of lemon juice with ¼ cup of water in an air fryer-proof bowl and bake it at 180C for 10 minutes. This mixture absorbs bad odours and even loosens up any gunk in the air fryer. Wipe it down before you close. You can also do the same with a spoon of vanilla extract in a ¼ cup of water! PS: Most of these tips work for the removable parts of your oven or electric pressure cooker too!
