Hail to the mason jar salad! 🙌

organize yourself skinny

Hey there reader

Today I want to talk about mason jar salads. Oh, mason jar salads! How I love thee!

I'm sure you've heard me mention mason jar salads before, probably because I'm borderline obsessed with them.

I started making mason jars in 2013 - that's a long time ago. Since then, I've made 1000s of mason jar salads, and guess what, I never get sick of them.

Honestly, mason jar salads kind of changed my life.

Before mason jar salads, I rarely ate salads. If I went out to a restaurant, maybe I'd order a salad, but as far as at home, I can't think of a time I'd make a salad for a meal. It just seemed like too much work plus, to be honest, I wasn't a "salad person."

That's until I started eating mason jar salads.

I can fill a mason jar with all kinds of greens, vegetables, lean proteins, nuts, and other healthy ingredients. I learned that salad is much more than iceberg lettuce, shredded carrots, and ranch dressing - just saying :)

The best part about mason jar salads (besides being delicious and simple to prepare) is that I significantly increased the number of vegetables I eat without even thinking about it.

Eating more veggies makes a HUGE difference in maintaining my health and weight loss goals.

When I drink a green smoothie for breakfast and eat a mason jar salad for lunch, I often say that I feel like a million bucks! My body is thrilled when I consume all that roughage.

Have I convinced you yet?

I would love for you to give mason jar salads a try. Pick one of my mason jar salad recipes and make five today to enjoy all week.

My favorites are:

See how you feel by the end of the week.

I bet you'll love having lunch prepared. And you'll feel healthier and energized with all those greens.

If you have a spare second, can you share a picture of your beautiful mason jar salads in the Organize Yourself Skinny Facebook Group? It's so fun to see everyone's creations.

I know you probably have many questions about mason jar salads, and I put a tutorial together to answer all of them. You can read it here.

However, let me just quickly answer some of the most common questions.

Do the greens get soggy?

No. I'veI've made 1000s of mason jar salads and never once had soggy greens.

What size mason jars do you use? Where do I get mason jars and plastic lids?

I use 32-ounce wide-mouth mason jars. Both sell at many retail stores like Target and Walmart. However, if you can't find them there, go to trusty ole Amazon.

Do they last all week?

Yes. Again, I've been making these every week FOR YEARS; my salads always last till Friday - sometimes longer.

Even if you're not a "salad lover," I highly encourage you to give mason jar salads a try - just once. Like I said, before mason jar salads, I never enjoyed salads, and now I eat them every week.

Talk to you soon!

Tammy
