Small, independent cafe based in Ecclesfield, serving fresh and delicious hot food, sandwiches, and cakes as well as fresh coffee and now doing a monthly pie night! Quality food and customer service here, lucky to have this local to us!
I had been meaning to order food from Green Lane for a while, especially as the cafe is based very close to where I work. With a regular menu of Breakfast, Sandwiches, sides and an array of hot drinks to dine in or take away, this little cafe is a strong option for great food in Ecclesfield. Following them on Instagram, I get to see their daily specials menu and they always have amazing sounding food like Smokey Braised Brisket Sandwich with Seasoned Wedges, Onion Bhaji Burger, or a Halloumi Naanwich and much, much more. Sadly I still have all of these to try and review, however as of October, Green Lane have started a monthly Pie & Pea Supper Club!
Pie & Pea Supper Club Info
Every first Friday of the month, 6pm & 8pm sitting, Choose from 2 pies (one meat option, one veggie) served with mash, mushy peas, gravy & Hendos. Oh and this is followed by a dessert! All for £15pp. Takeaway option also available. Please note, it's bring your own booze (soft drinks available).
I had never seen the dining area at the cafe before and when we walked in I thought it was beautiful! A really inviting, warm, cosy dining area, I love it! A really nice atmosphere to dine in, the tables all set with little bottle of Hendos was a cute touch. The staff were really friendly and attentive too. Our pies came out and were eye-popping, great looking pies, filled to the brim with delicious fillings. I went with the veggie option which this time round was roast root vegetable in a creamy sauce, and I really enjoyed it, everything tasted really good and the mash, peas and gravy went really well together and were just he right mount of each. Ben went with the Steak & Ale pie of course, which was rich and delicious.
Dessert this time was Sticky Toffee Pudding with toffee sauce and vanilla ice cream and it was mouthwatering! We were definitely already full from our pies, but couldn't turn this down and ate every bit. Really sweet, warming and pleasing 0 just what you want from a dessert.
I would recommend booking your place at one of the pie nights - next one on the 5th November. Please visit Green Lane Kitchen's website here for more details.
Hoping to try out some of the lunches and more goodies from here soon!
