Vaccine Ambassadors

Governor Walz announced the State of Minnesota is partnering with leaders representing all aspects of Minnesota life – including the arts, business and civic community, sports, and elected officials – to spread the word about the importance of getting vaccinated against COVID-19. In the state's continued efforts to meet Minnesotans where they are and get them the information they need to decide to get vaccinated, this initial roster of leaders will engage directly with Minnesotans all across the state. They will highlight the importance of getting vaccinated in a variety of ways, including text, call, and email messages.

"Never been more excited to rock a Band-Aid." Dessa - singer, rapper, and writer

"Never been more excited to rock a Band-Aid," said singer, rapper, and writer Dessa. "Every vaccine administered brings us one step closer to being together again: to hugging friends, eating with the whole family, and — of course — live music. Thanks to everybody who's rolled up a sleeve (and the health care workers doling out the Band-Aids)."

What's New

Masking Requirements for Child Care

There is no longer a statewide requirement to wear face coverings in most settings. However, other federal, state, or local laws may require face coverings in some settings, and businesses may set their own requirements.

To provide for an effective developmental and educational environment, and to ensure safety for workers, students, and children, child care settings must comply with Executive Order 20-81 (Executive Orders from Governor Walz) on the use of face coverings and face shields through June 30, 2021 or until 70% of Minnesotans age 16 years and older receive at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, whichever comes first.

After the expiration of Executive Order 20-81, MDH strongly recommends that people in child care settings continue to follow CDC guidance for unvaccinated people: Use Masks to Slow the Spread of COVID-19. Child care settings will continue to have both vaccinated and unvaccinated people as there is not a vaccine approved for children under 12 years of age available yet. For this reason, it is strongly recommended that child care settings continue prevention measures, including use of face coverings and physical distancing, even after Executive Order 20-81 expires and staff have been vaccinated.

COVID-19 Resources for the LGBTQ+ Community

COVID-19 & MN LGBTQ Community resource guide tthumbnail

The LGBTQ+ community is strong and resilient, even when faced with discrimination in many aspects of life such as housing, employment, and health care. This ongoing discrimination has led to LGBTQ+ people experiencing health disparities – some increasing the risk of severe health outcomes from COVID-19.

The COVID-19 & MN LGBTQ Community (PDF) resource guide provides basic information about COVID-19 and supportive services available for the LGBTQ+ community in Minnesota. It includes where to find testing locations, LGBTQ-competent health care, discrimination support, housing resources, financial aid, workplace safety resources, and food access programs.
