New COVID-19 Vaccination Tracker

Who is getting a COVID-19 vaccine? Who is hesitant about receiving it and why? What state has the highest vaccination or hesitancy rate?

The rollout of COVID-19 vaccines has been the subject of extensive news coverage, and a new Census Bureau data visualization tool aims to provide insights into the public's feelings about COVID-19 vaccines in near real time.

The COVID-19 vaccine tracker uses data from the Census Bureau's Household Pulse Survey, which in January added a new series of questions about COVID-19 vaccinations and attitudes toward them.

Record High Turnout in 2020 General Election

Despite unique challenges to voter registration and voting created by COVID-19 and heightened concerns about turnout as a result, the 2020 election had the highest voter turnout of the 21st century.

The 2020 election featured the largest increase in voters between two presidential elections on record with 17 million more people voting than in 2016.

Majority of Voters Used Nontraditional Methods to Cast Ballots in 2020

In the 2020 election, 69% of voters nationwide cast their ballot nontraditionally — by mail and/or before Election Day. By comparison, about 40% of voters cast their ballots by mail and/or prior to Election Day in 2016.

Much of the surge in nontraditional voting was due to an increase in mail-in voting.
