STATS FOR STORIES (SFS)

May 6-12 is National Nurses Week. This week, May 9-15, is National Police Week. May is National Bike Month, Older Americans Month, and World Trade Month.

 

Nurses

National Nurses Week: May 6-12

The 2019 American Community Survey estimated 2,389,655 registered nurses, 920,780 nursing assistants, and 585,167 licensed practical and vocational nurses.

Police

National Police Week: May 9-15

In March 2019, the Annual Survey of Public Employment and Payroll counted 906,037 full-time police employees in the US with a monthly payroll of $5.98 billion.

National Bike Month: May

In 2019, the U.S. Census Bureau estimated that 805,722 workers in the U.S. bicycled to work, down from about 865,000 in 2012 and up from 665,000 in 2007.

Older Americans Month: May

The 2019 American Community Survey estimated there were 54,074,028 people aged 65 and over in the U.S. out of a total population of 328,239,523 or 16.5%.

Trade

World Trade Month & Week: May and May 16-22

On April 7, 2021, the monthly FT900 release reported that the goods and services deficit was $71.1B in February, up $3.3B from $67.8B in January, revised.
